A construction worker who died after an 8-story fall from a condo in Ormond Beach Thursday has been identified by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department as Daniel Freeman.

Freeman, 37, was the co-owner of The Glass Act, a business specializing in cleaning the windows of high-rise buildings, according to The Glass Act’s website.

Freeman was working on storm shutters when he fell just after 10 a.m. Deputies responded to a 911 call from the Aquarius Oceanfront Condo at 1575 Ocean Shore Blvd., deputies said.

“Sad to report that deputies are on scene ... where a 911 caller reported a construction worker fell about 10 stories,” the sheriff’s office stated on Twitter.

Investigators later learned Freeman was outside the 8th floor of the building when he fell, deputies said. While he was harnessed to an object at the top of the building, that harnessing equipment also fell to the ground.

No criminal charges are pending.

“The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the fall, which appears to have been a tragic accident,” reads a press release on the incident.

The identity of the victim was previously withheld because of pending notification of his family.
