A Duval County teacher was removed from the classroom after writing a statement on the board scolding kids who don’t stand for the Pledge of Allegiance, according to a report by Jacksonville.com.
Daniel Adam Goodman, a teacher at First Coast High School, wrote a statement Wednesday morning on his dry erase board, and a photo of it has gone viral on Facebook.
The statement mentions elements of American history such as the Civil War, segregated drinking fountains and America having had a black president, but it’s the statement’s final line that seemed to capture the most attention.
"If you refuse to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance or our National Anthem, are you revealing your maturity and wisdom? Actually, you are displaying the opposite (as some pampered arrogant celebrities and athletes tend to do) — Mr. G.”
